Another major topic for the forthcoming COMCIFS open meeting is the
relationship between CIF and XML. There is some overlap with the STAR/XML
work already mentioned, but there are other aspects to think about in
designing interoperability between CIF applications and the information
handling systems of other disciplines, which are increasingly constructed in
an XML framework.

I have put together a page of links to provide more background on XML for
attendees, and shall willingly add more relevant links upon request.
