For those of you who do not subscribe to the NFAIS Listserv, I am copying
hereafter (with Dick Kaser's permission) an announcement which appeared in
NFAIS-l News Update & Announcements, Oct. 5, 1998:

MORE MERGER NEWS FROM THOMSON

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) has been merged with
Derwent into a new Thomson group called Thomson Science and Technology
(TST), headed by former ISI President Mike Tansey. Derwent will remain
under Martin Nathan as a separate unit. The new group reports to Pat
Tierney, President of Thomson Business Information.
:
Also reporting to Tierney is the Gale Group, formed a few weeks
ago from a merger of Information Access Company, Gale Research, and
Primary Source Media.
