Copyright

I just listened to a talk by Ann Okerson (Brian and Yves might remember
her talking in Paris).

She says that the number of journal authors in the USA asking to keep
their own copyright is on the increase. She also said that Elsevier
allows authors to do this but they have to sign a licence agreement
although she gave no details.

Have there been cases of this with the IUCr journals and what was the
response? It seems that refusing has the effect of alienating authors.

H.
