Yves,

J'ai bien l'intention de venir a Paris pour participer a cette
reunion. Tu es aussi le bienvenu si tu as le temps. Le 'Workshop on
digital archiving issues in cooperation with ICSU Press' me semble digne
d'interet.

Howard

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARIAT TO ALL ICSTI MEMBERS
*************************************************

The final programme of the Winter meetings is under preparation and will be
posted on the listserv by 15 December. In the meantime, here is a general
outline:

- Saturday 29 January: meetings of the Technical Activities Coordinating
Committee and of the Information Policy Committee where current projects
will be discussed. These meetings are in fact discussion sessions on
topical subjects.

- Sunday 30 January, morning: meeting of the Executive Board which is, as
always, open to all the members.

- From Sunday 30 January, 1 PM to Monday 31 January, 4 PM:
Workshop on digital archiving issues in cooperation with ICSU Press. The
workshop which follows on the ICSTI-CENDI Digital Electronic Archiving
Report will feature a series of papers on the following issues: Models for
Digital Archives, Cost Models for Sustainable Archives, Policy and
Standards Issues, each of them followed by a panel discussion with
representatives of each of the stakeholder groups.

The organizing task force includes several ICSTI members and Sir Roger
Elliott, Chairman of ICSU Press, Kenneth Fulton, Executive Director of the
U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Professor Erik Sandewall, University of
Linkoeping, Sweden, and Gail Hodge who has been commissioned to prepare the
programme and contact the speakers.

We hope that many of you will be able to attend what promises to be a
constructive discussion. However, we need to know as soon as possible how
many people plan to attend this meeting so as to figure out whether we can
accommodate all the participants in the ICSU meeting room.

Kindly let me know at your earliest convenience whether you will attend the
meetings, and if so, when you plan to arrive and in which hotel you will be
staying - in case we need to contact you.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Marthe Orfus

P.S. As a reminder: please do not REPLY to this message if you want to
reach the secretariat only, otherwise your message will be sent to the 97
persons whose address is on the ICSTI listserv and will increase the
inflation of useless/irrelevant messages each of you is receiving every
day. Thanks for your attention!

The secretariat is at icsti@dial.oleane.com
