A POSTDOCTORAL position is available immediately working with Dr. Yun Liu at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Delaware. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to study the structure and dynamics of macromolecules flowing through porous materials.
The successful candidate is expected to work mostly at the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The research includes 1) exploring methods to make novel model porous materials based on the self-assembly of nanoparticles, and 2) studying the properties of porous materials and macromolecules flowing through porous materials. This is part of a large project in understanding the material properties under extreme conditions. The candidate will work in a team and have chances to collaborate with scientists at other divisions of NIST in addition to advance his/her research using tools available at NCNR.
Candidates need to have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or other equivalent education background with a research focus on soft matter materials. A background in colloidal assemblies and/or neutron or x-ray scattering techniques is beneficial, but not essential. Initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal up to two years subject to both satisfactory progress and the availability of funds. The position is open for candidates with all citizenship, and available immediately. But the starting date is negotiable.
CONTACT: Please submit a cover letter, a complete CV, and the names and contact information of references to Dr. Yun Liu ( yunliu@nist.gov<mailto:yunliu@nist.gov> or yunliu@udel.edu<mailto:yunliu@udel.edu>).
