Dear SAS Reseacher,

Please help us understand how the SAS community would receive a new high
intensity SAXS/WAXS instrument, which is presently undergoing prototype
testing.

Please do so by answering the brief questionnaire below and e-mailing it
to
Dr. Karsten Joensen, at joensen@osmic.com.

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE, AS THE RESULTS WILL NOT GO TO DR. JOENSEN.

We sincerely appreciate your effort and hope in the future to be able to
provide you with improved instrumentation for and SAXS and SAXS/WAXS.

Sincerely

Karsten Dan Joensen

P.S. I would be happy to questions any questions or considerations that
you
may have regarding this e-mail, the survey, the instrument, or Osmic
ability to provide other instrumentation.
-------------------------------------

Questionaire Introduction

The novel instrument conceopt is based on an application of the tried and
tested Guinier geometry. By using specially designed multilayer
monochromatizing optics, a novel aperture approach, and state-of-the-art
image plate technology, initial tests show that up to 20-40 times the
intensity of existing SAXS/WAXS instrumentation can be achieved with no
loss of resolution. Hopefully, your sincere answers to the following
questions will allow us to evaluate how interesting such an instrument is
to the SAXS community at large. Feel free to disregard any question you
do
not want to answer. Additional comments are very welcome.

Question 1:
Do you have SAXS instrumentation in your organization?
If so, which types (please indicate which and how many)
	Commercial 2-dimensional Camera
	Home-built 2-dimensional Camera
Commercial Kratky Camera with PSD detector
Commercial Kratky Camera without PSD detector
	Homebuilt Kratky Camera
	Commercial Bonse-Hart Camera
	Homebuilt Bonse-Hart Camera
	Other

Question 2
The new instrument provides one-dimensional data (much like that of a
Kratky Camera with 20-40 times more intensity at the same resolution). Do
you believe your organization would be interested in purchasing such an
instrument?

Question 3
Given a choice between a 2-dimensional SAXS instrument and this new
instrument (probably costing 50% of a commercial SAXS system) which would
your organization be most likely to buy?

Question 4
Does the fact that "New and much improved" data-analysis software has
been
written to analyze the one-dimensional data" make a difference in your
answer to question 2 and 3?

Question 5
Would you be interested in receiving more detailed material on the
instrument, when such material becomes available?
