In 1997 close to 1 200 pages have been printed, including the Special Issue containing the Small-Angle Scattering Conference held in 1996 in Campinas, Brazil. The latter comprised 62 papers, and continues our tradition of serving the small-angle scattering community. Thanks are due to the Guest Editors of this special issue, A. Craievich, G. Kostorz and J. Teixeira, for their excellent efforts in putting this issue together. Readers will have noted that as a result of this issue, the following December issue was larger than normal. This year, we have seen a large increase in the use of the Fast Communications section; and the Computer Abstracts section remains popular. A Lead Article written by E. F. Garman and T. R. Schneider dealing with the topic of Cryocrystallography appears to have been well received and has created interest in the readership of JAC. Indeed, a new section on Cryocrystallography (handled by Co-editor P. Weber) is beginning to flourish. The journal continues to attract a very wide range of research papers covering all aspects of crystallography.
