The convention for names is given as "family name(s) followed by a comma, preceded the first name(s) or initial(s)." What is intended for modifiers such as "Jr", "II", "III", "IX", etc.? Should they be left with the family name, or moved to be with the initials? For example, should "E. F. Meyer Jr" become "Meyer Jr, E. F." or "Meyer, E. F. Jr"? Also, how should the case of multiple family names be determined? In "E. Smythe Jones", is "Smythe" a middle name or the beginning of a list of multiple family names? When the last-name-first version is in hand, there is no problem flipping things around for the "normal" version (assuming we ignore the worst cases of "Jr", "IX", etc.), but inverting a normal name to the last-name-first version can get tricky. A few more examples would be appreciated.
