From ACA RefleXions, Spring 2013

[Helen Berman] Helen Berman

Helen Berman, a professor at Rutgers U. and co-founder of the Protein Data Bank (PDB), has won the 2013 DeLano Award for Computational Biosciences from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for her efforts to make structural data universally available. About 25 new macromolecular structures are submitted to the PDB each day, and more than 88,000 structures have been made available since it was established in 1971.

[Jennifer Doudna] Jennifer Doudna

Jennifer A. Doudna is the inaugural recipient of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Mildred Cohn award in Biological Chemistry. In addition Doudna, professor of biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology at the U. of California, Berkeley, was one of two recipients of the 2013 Hans Neurath Award for her study of three-dimensional structures of noncoding RNA and the regulation of protein products by ribonucleoproteins.
