New Business Development Manager for IUCr

We extend a warm welcome to Dr Jonathan Agbenyega, who has recently joined the IUCr staff in Chester, UK, as Business Development Manager. Jonathan completed his PhD in Materials Science at U. of Southampton in 1993 and also co-authored a book on Raman spectroscopy published by Wiley during this period. After a brief postdoc position at the Institute of Food Research, Norwich, UK, Jonathan began his career in scientific publishing. Jonathan has worked with leading publishers Wiley, Pearson and, more recently, Elsevier, where he was Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Materials Today magazine.

Jonathan joins the IUCr at an exciting time in the development of the IUCr Journals, and will be reaching out to the wider science community, encouraging closer integration of the journals with the IUCr Commissions, developing a social media marketing strategy, boosting visibility of articles and authors by writing press releases highlighting the most significant papers, creating market research reports including citation and usage trend analysis, identifying subject trends and new journal opportunities, identifying target authors and encouraging them to submit to the journals, and exploiting opportunities arising from IYCr2014.
