Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2025

Gjønnes Medal in Electron Crystallography

Dr Lukas Palatinus (Institute of Physics of the CAS, Prague, Czechia), receives the Gjønnes Medal in Electron Crystallography. The Gjønnes Medal is awarded every three years and recognizes an outstanding contribution to the field of electron crystallography.

Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2025

Professors Susumu Kitagawa (Kyoto University, Japan), Richard Robson (University of Melbourne, Australia), and Omar M. Yaghi (University of California, Berkeley, USA) received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2025 “for the development of metal–organic frameworks.”

Professor David Eisenberg awarded the Gregori Aminoff Prize

Professor David Eisenberg, University of California in Los Angeles, USA, has been awarded the Gregori Aminoff Prize in Crystallography by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences “For his discoveries of amyloid fibril structures of relevance for the field of amyloid structural biology and neurodegenerative diseases”.

Call for Nominations – Struchkov Prize 2026

The IUCr invites nominations for the second Struchkov Prize, which promotes excellence in structural science and celebrates the achievements of young researchers in small-molecule crystallography. The Struchkov prize will be presented at the Calgary Congress in August 2026.

Fourteenth Ewald Prize – Call for Nominations

The IUCr invites your nominations for the Ewald Prize for outstanding contributions to the science of crystallography. Nominations for the fourteenth Prize, which will be presented at the Calgary Congress in August 2026, should be submitted by 30 November 2025.
