International Union of Crystallography

New Year greeting from the President

[Sine Larsen]2009 is still young and I will start by passing my warm New Year’s greetings to crystallographers all over the world with the hope that 2009 will be successful in both your professional and personal lives. The XXI IUCr Congress in Osaka was one of the highlights of the previous year; this year I hope that many of us will have the opportunity to come together at the meetings organized by the Regional Associates (ACA, AsCA and ECA) or at more specialized conferences and workshops.

It is not the intention that this part of the web site should only be used to convey messages from the President; in fact, it provides excellent opportunities to post news, comments and opinions of general interest for the entire crystallographic community. Any contribution of this kind (~ 200 words) should be sent to the IUCr Executive Secretary, Michael Dacombe (execsec@iucr.org), who will make sure that this part of the web site is renewed regularly with news of relevance for the crystallographic community.  To encourage a regular flow of information from the crystallographic community the Executive Secretary will also routinely contact Commission Chairs, Regional Associates, national crystallographic associations and others asking for material to be put on the web site that is of general interest for crystallographers.

As the newly elected President I hope to have the opportunity to meet with many of you in the coming year.
