IUCr XVII - E-mail abstract submission

Attention to all submitting abstracts by e-mail. Some submitters have not been receiving the standard machine acknowledgement of successful abstract reception. Here is a list of some reasons for this failure:

1. The abstract message failed to arrive. In this event, the message would have bounced back to you with a reason for unsuccessful transmission.

2. The abstract message was received successfully, but no acknowledgement was received. The typical reason for this is an improper e-mail return address in the "From:" header of the transmitted e-mail message. This maybe a local mailer configuration problem, a mail gateway configuration problem, or an unregistered domain name. Contact your postmaster to rectify mailer problems. Check the Web to see if yout title apprears. It should apprear within 10 working days of reception. Finally contact iucr-inquiries@hwi.buffalo.edu. Mail traffic at this address is heavy. Do not expect an immediate rely.

3. Some of you received the acknowledgement message along with an error message about cga17bk. Your abstract was successfully received. Do not resend. There was a local configuration error on the backup mail drop box during Feb 12 and 13.

You will normally receive two acknowledgement messages -- one from the primary mail drop box and another from the backup. Reception of one acknowledgement is sufficient guarantee of successful transmission. Those of you who have made submissions before Feb 12 should have received one acknowledgement.
