The title compound, [MnNi(CN)4(C5H5N)2], has a layered structure of a two-dimensional network complex Mn(py)2Ni(CN)4, in which linkages of cyanide between the equatorial coordination sites of octa­hedral MnII ions (site symmetry 2/m) and those of square planar NiII ions (site symmetry 2/m) form a square mesh network. Pyridine ligands (located on mirror planes) coordinate to the axial sites of the MnII ions from both sides of the network.

In the title complex, [CuNi(CN)4(C4H13N3)(C2H7NO)].2H2O, the Cu, chelated with a terdentate dien [dien = N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine] and a bidentate mea (mea = 2-aminoethanol) ligand, is ligated additionally with [Ni(CN)4]2- monodentately at the N atom of one CN group; the three other N atoms are free from ligation. The monodentate ligation is a rare example of tetracyanonickelate(II) bridging to another coordination centre through only one CN group.

The crystal structure of Cu3(CN)4(NH3)2Hg(CN)2 is a threefold-inter­penetrating structure of three-dimensional frameworks, which are formed from two-dimensional network CuI/CuII-cyanide complexes, Cu3(CN)4(NH3)2, connected by rod-like Hg(CN)2 groups.

catena-Poly[cadmium-[[mu]-(2-aminoethanol-N:O)-[mu]-[[mu]-cyano-1[kappa]N:2[kappa]C- [trans-bis(cyano-C)nickel(II)]-[mu]-cyano-1[kappa]N:2[kappa]C]-[mu]-(1,5-diaminopentane-N:N')]], [Cd{Ni(CN)4}(C2H7NO)(C5H14N2)], (1), has a three-dimensional structural unit comprised of a distorted Cd-cornered rectangular box edged by catena-[mu]-1,5-diaminopentane, catena-[mu]-2-aminoethanol and catena-[mu]-trans-NC-Ni(CN)2-CN bridges. The void space in one of the frameworks is filled with another to give a doubly interpenetrating framework structure. catena-Poly[[(2-aminoethanol-N,O)cadmium]-[[mu]-[[mu]-cyano-1[kappa]N:2[kappa]C- [trans-bis(cyano-C)nickel(II)]-[mu]-cyano-1[kappa]N:2[kappa]C]-[mu]-(1,6-diaminohexane-N:N')] monohydrate], [Cd{Ni(CN)4}(C2H7NO)(C6H16N2)].H2O, (2), contains 2-aminoethanol ligands chelated to Cd, which decreases the number of catena-[mu]-bridges about the Cd2+ ion to four, two each of catena-[mu]-1,6-diaminohexane and catena-[mu]-trans-NC-Ni(CN)2-CN, giving a distorted adamantoid unit. The void space is occupied by two other frameworks and a water molecule to give a triply interpenetrated framework.
