The absolute configuration was determined for the title compound, which was prepared in a synthetic study on the natural products bryostatins. There are two independent molecules which show similar conformations, except for the orientation of the methoxy groups.

The magnetic properties of 6H-type BaFeO3-[delta] were studied using small-angle neutron scattering, positive-muon spin relaxation and magnetization measurements.

A novel analysis method is proposed for X-ray diffraction patterns recorded in single-shot wide-angle X-ray scattering experiments of free-flying single nanoparticles. The crystalline defects in the nanoparticles are characterized by analyzing the angular correlations between Bragg spots in the single diffraction patterns.

A system has been developed for stress measurement under high pressure using Kawai-type multi-anvil apparatus combined with synchrotron radiation. The capacity of the system was demonstrated using a KCl sample to 10 GPa.

A modified Drickamer anvil apparatus has been developed to combine with monochromatic synchrotron radiation for high-pressure X-ray diffraction and radiography in the GSECARS bending-magnet station, 13-BM-D, at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne, USA.

A refinement method of the structure from a low-intensity diffraction pattern is proposed and applied to a diffraction pattern from a sub-micrometre cluster. It is shown that the method could retrieve a 2D projection of the electron density that is physically meaningful.

Magnetic groups are applied to three-dimensional fluid flows with chirality, which are called Beltrami flows. Eight Beltrami flows are derived and studied using Wyckoff positions. The crystal-like structures of their tube-like surfaces, called invariant tori, are numerically observed.

Biofilm is an extracellular matrix created by many microorganisms, and a major problem in clinical and technical settings. The crystal structure reported here helps elucidate the synthesis of the major component of biofilm produced by Y. pestis and E. coli, and may assist in the development of agents to block it.
