In accordance with the time-table established by the executive of the mmCIF working group, we have now submitted to COMCIFS for technical review the data items that will constitute the extension of the mmCIF dictionary from Version 1.0 to Version 2.0. These proposed new data itmes were submitted from the community (in this case, from Kim Henrick of EBI), reviewed by the appropriate member(s) of the panel of editors of the mmCIF dictionary for content, and then given further editorial review by the executive of the mmCIF working group. The approximately 60 new data items involve extensions to various PHASING and REFINE categories. Following the now-completed internal review, the next step in the process is to submit the data items to COMCIFS for a quick review of technical compliance with the CIF standard - they were submitted today. We are hoping that COMCIFS will release the data items for community review by April 15 - we will certainly inform all of you on this mailing list as soon as they are ready for review, and we hope that you will all be able to have a careful look at them. This is the time for comment and revision, following which we will submit these data items to COMCIFS for formal approval. We will keep you posted - Paula Fitzgerald Helen Berman John Westbrook -- Helen Berman Ph: (732) 445-4667 Department of Chemistry Fax: (732) 445-4320 Rutgers University PO Box 939 e-mail: berman@adenine.rutgers.edu Piscataway, NJ 08855-0939
