Topical Reviews in Acta F

An Editorial in the November 2021 issue of Acta Cryst. F discusses plans for Topical Reviews on structural biology. The idea, originating from former Editor-in-Chief John Helliwell, is to publish concise, up-to-date and forward-looking reviews that focus on a coherent group of structures, for example the same enzyme or structures containing the same ligand. The aim is to publish at least one Topical Review per issue of the journal, which may be contributed not only by established scientists or group leaders but also by younger scientists such as postdoctoral fellows or PhD students about to submit their theses.

Professor Helliwell will be the Guest Editor and has started the ball rolling with a review of the crystal structures of the enzyme hydroxymethylbilane synthase (also known as porphobilinogen deaminase), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Protein Data Bank.
