IUCr contributes bibliographic data to UniPHY [posted 11 May 2012]  The IUCr has partnered with the American Institute of Physics to provide bibliographic data from its publications to UniPHY.
David Sayre 1924-2012 [posted 16 Mar 2012]  Dr David Sayre died on 23 February 2012.
Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2011 [posted 07 Oct 2011]  The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2011 to Dan Shechtman, Faculty of Materials Engineering, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Israel, for the discovery of quasicrystals.

Registrations now open for the South African School on Fundamental Crystallography [posted 20 Jan 2010]  Registrations are now open for the School on Fundamental Crystallography in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
Ninth Ewald Prize - call for nominations [posted 07 Jan 2010]  The International Union of Crystallography is pleased to invite nominations for the Ewald Prize for outstanding contributions to the science of crystallography. The ninth Prize will be presented at the Madrid Congress in August 2011.
Article retractions from Acta Crystallographica Section E [posted 18 Dec 2009]  An Editorial announcing the retraction of papers from Acta Crystallographica Section E has been published in the January 2010 issue of the journal.
Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre archives 500 000th crystal structure [posted 10 Dec 2009]  The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) has announced the archiving of the 500,000th small molecule crystal structure to the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD).
Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009 [posted 07 Oct 2009]  The Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2009 has been awarded jointly to Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, UK, Thomas A. Steitz, USA, and Ada E. Yonath, Israel, for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome. The research honoured not only by the 2009 but also by the 2006 (Roger D. Kornberg, USA) and 2003 (Roderick MacKinnon, USA) Nobel Prizes in Chemistry would not have been possible without the use of crystallographic methods.

Gjønnes Medal – call for nominations [posted 21 Sep 2009]  The Gjønnes Medal in Electron Crystallography recognizes an outstanding contribution to the field of electron crystallography. The next Gjønnes Medal will be awarded at the Madrid Congress in August 2011.Nominations are now being accepted.
