Uri Shmueli (1928–2023)

We are sad to pass on the news that Uri Shmueli, Professor Emeritus at Tel Aviv University, Israel, died on 15 February 2023. An excellent scientist, Professor Shmueli had a long-standing association with the IUCr as Editor of International Tables Volume B: Reciprocal space. His interest in crystallographic statistics and teaching spawned two books in the IUCr/OUP Book Series: Introduction to Crystallographic Statistics (with George H. Weiss) and Theories and Techniques of Crystal Structure Determination. An obituary will be published in due course.
