Support the work of the IUCr

Through donations and legacies

For more than 75 years, the IUCr has supported the global crystallographic community through scientific publishing, education, international collaboration and outreach.

As a not-for-profit scientific union, our purpose is to advance structural science globally. Donations and gifts in Wills can help us continue this work, support emerging scientists and create opportunities for future generations.

There are two ways you can contribute.

Support the future of crystallography

Donations to the IUCr Education and Outreach Fund support initiatives that promote crystallography, develop scientific skills and strengthen access to education and research opportunities internationally.

Education, outreach and international collaboration are central to the IUCr's mission to advance structural science globally. Through the IUCr Outreach and Education Fund, we support initiatives that make crystallography more accessible, particularly in regions where opportunities for specialist training and research are limited.

These include IUCr OpenLabs, which provide practical training and access to crystallographic instrumentation, as well as educational workshops, outreach events and activities that encourage young people to explore structural science. The Fund can also support participation by young scientists and prizes for outstanding posters and presentations at eligible events.

Alongside these initiatives, the IUCr's wider activities include:

Leave a gift in your Will

For those who have spent their careers in crystallography, leaving a gift to the IUCr is one way to help sustain the international scientific community that has supported their work.

A gift in your Will, also known as a legacy or bequest, can contribute to the IUCr's long-term work in areas such as:

  • Supporting students and early-career scientists.
  • Providing scientific education and training.
  • Encouraging international collaboration and outreach.
  • Advancing crystallographic research, knowledge and standards.

Gifts of any size are appreciated. Your decision is entirely personal, and there is no expectation or obligation to make a commitment. You can find more information about how to leave a gift in this document.

Let us know your intentions

If you have already included the IUCr in your Will, or are considering doing so, we would welcome hearing from you.

You can let us know confidentially using our short form. You do not need to disclose the amount or value of any intended gift.

Informing us is entirely optional and does not create a legal commitment. Your intentions can change at any time.

Contact the IUCr

If you would prefer to discuss a potential gift directly, please contact the IUCr Secretariat.

We would be pleased to provide further information about the Union's activities and the practical details your legal adviser may require.
