The 25th Buffalo-Hamilton-Toronto (BHT) meeting will be a one-day meeting in McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario held on November 4, 2016. BHT2016 will be hosted by Alba Guarné from McMaster University. The topic for this meeting will be protein structure determination by direct methods; the invited speaker is scheduled to be Isabel Usón from the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB, CSIC). She will cover new advancements in ab initio phasing using her program Arcimboldo-Borges.

This is the 4th Annual Meeting on Protein Structure, Function and Malfunction (PSFaM). This is generally a very well attended meeting held in Western Canada and is sponsored by the Canadian Light Source (CLS), Proteomics Research in Interactions and Structure of Macromolecules (PRISM), Bruker and the University of Saskatchewan. In addition to the poster and oral presentations by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, there are 4 keynote speakers this year. They are: Sergio Grinstein from the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto; Susan Lees-Miller from the University of Calgary; Robert Campbell from the Chemistry Department, University of Alberta and Srirani Subramanian from the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. The conference will include invited talks and contributed poster presentations covering the following topics:Â

• High temperature thermal analysis and calorimetry
• In situ high temperature X-ray and neutron diffraction
• High temperature thermodynamic properties from mass spectrometry and other equilibrium experiments
• Radiation thermometry
• Experimental determination of phase diagrams
• First principles computations of structural and thermodynamic properties at high temperatures

The aims of the conference are to disseminate information on experimental and computational methods suitable for structural and thermodynamic studies of oxides at temperatures above 1500°C, to promote collaboration between research groups in the field, and to delineate bottleneck experimental and computational issues to focus on in future research.

STOHT Conference: October 21-22, 2016

The German Conference on Neutron Scattering 2016 - Deutsche Neutronenstreutagung DN2016 - offers a forum for the presentation and critical discussion of recent results obtained with neutron scattering and complementary techniques. The meeting will be held in Kiel from 20th to 22nd September 2016. It is organized on behalf of the German Committee for Research with Neutrons - Komitee Forschung mit Neutronen KFN - by the HZG and University of Kiel.

This biennial series of meetings aims to bring together scientists and technologists from the food science community with those expert in the application of scattering methods. Since the first meeting in Sydney, the subject matter has expanded beyond neutron scattering to include other scattering and radiographic methods. This year we will be incorporating a session dedicated to the final meeting of the project "New X-ray Imaging Modalities for High Quality and Safe Food" lead by Robert Karup Feidenhans'l from Copenhagen University.
