The conference is a satellite meeting previous to "27th International Conference on Low Temperature Physics" (LT-27). AToMS will have two main goals. The first one is to promote the exchange of new ideas on recent topics of Magnetism and Superconductivity between internationally distinguished scientists as well as local researchers in the field. The second one is to dedicate part of the meeting to celebrate the academic and scientific career of Julián Sereni, Professor at Instituto Balseiro, and one international distinghished scientist in the study of Cerium-based strongly correlated electronic systems.

The conference will cover, though not exclusively, the following issues:
- frustration and exotic order in magnetic systems,
- quantum phase transitions,
- strongly correlated electronic systems,
- coexistence between superconductivity and magnetism,
- new superconductors,
- soft condensed matter in superconducting and magnetic materials,
- superconductivity at the mesoscopic-scale

Neutron Scattering in Magnetic Fields Above 15 Tesla

The scope of the workshop is to bring together experts doing research in high magnetic fields above 15 T with the focus on neutron scattering. We want to provide an information platform for researchers regarding the future use of the high‐field facility capable of generating magnetic fields as high as 25+ T at HZB. Identification of possible future experiments using this facility is one of the main workshop topics. The workshop covers neutron diffraction, SANS and inelastic scattering in high magnetic fields and other extreme sample environments, and the science topics range from applied to fundamental problems in high magnetic fields including superconductivity, quantum magnetism, functional materials etc.

59th Annual Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (MMM) Conference

The 59th Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Conference, sponsored jointly by AIP Publishing and the Magnetics Society of the IEEE, in cooperation with the American Physical Society, will be held November 3-7, 2014 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii. Members of the international scientific and engineering communities interested in recent developments in fundamental and applied magnetism are invited to attend the Conference and contribute to its technical sessions. Sessions will include invited and contributed papers, oral and poster presentations, and invited symposia. This Conference provides an outstanding opportunity for world-wide participants to meet their colleagues and collaborators and discuss developments in all areas of magnetism research. In terms of the number of presentations, this will be one of the largest MMM in the history of the Conference, with over 1900 oral and poster presentations.

“Condensed Matter in Paris†is an international conference covering all aspects of condensed matter physics, including soft condensed matter, liquid physics, biophysics, materials science, quantum physics and quantum simulators, low temperature physics, quantum fluids, strongly correlated materials, semiconductor physics, magnetism, surface and interface physics, electronic, optical, structural, and mechanical properties of materials, acoustics, and disordered media. An important place will be granted to interdisciplinary topics as well as to the development of research infrastructure in Europe.
“Condensed Matter in Paris†is jointly organised by the Condensed Matter Divisions of the French Physical Society SFP and of the European Physical Society EPS, and will unite the 14th Journées de la Matière Condensée (JMC14) and the 25th Conference of the Condensed Matter Division of the EPS (CMD25) in a single event.
 “Condensed Matter in Paris†is the next in the series of biyearly JMC and CMD conferences, the last of which were held in Montpellier and Edinburgh, respectively. It will also host the biyearly French-Singaporean workshop on physics, which, this year, will have “Graphene†as its main theme.

SCES 2014 will be held in Grenoble at the University Campus in Saint Martin d'Hères.
Following the long history and continuity of SCES the conference in Grenoble will cover a wide range of subjects in the diverse field of strongly correlated electron systems. SCES emphasizes the fundamental physics of strongly correlated electron systems that span from bulk materials including f-electron based heavy fermions, d-electron based compounds, and organic materials to artificial materials such as nanoscale structures as well as cold atoms in optical lattices.

Magnetic Structure Determination from Neutron Diffraction Data

The Magnetic Structure Determination Workshop aims to enhance the community studying magnetism in materials by learning from experts the essential theoretical foundations to magnetic representation analysis and work through real examples to gain experience in solving and refining magnetic structures from neutron powder and single crystal diffraction data.
Lectures and tutorial sessions will cover:
- Symmetry analysis using representation theory and the SARAh program.
- Refinement strategies using the Fullprof Suite.
- Magnetic structure determination from powder (constant wavelength and time-of-flight data) and single crystal data (constant wavelength)
- Simulated annealing approach for structure solution.
Magnetic Diffraction from Single Crystals at the ESS

The LLB is engaged by in-kind contribution in the design of neutron instrumentation at the European Spallation Source (ESS) Sweden, specifically for magnetic diffraction from single crystals . A strong potential is anticipated for single crystal diffraction by neutron time-of-flight Laue techniques benefiting best from the ESS pulse structure and providing new opportunities to study microscopic samples under extreme conditions, temperature, magnetic field and pressure.
The meeting is organized by the LLB and aims to evaluate the new perspectives for magnetic single crystal diffraction at the ESS. We intend to join neutron experts and potential users in the field to gather the most important scientific community needs.
The meeting (limited to 30 participants) will start at 11:00 on Monday May 26th and end at 17:00 on Tuesday May 27th. Organizers will provide lunches and coffee breaks.
Participants will have a possibility to present a 10-20 minutes talk. A considerable part of the time will be reserved for an informal discussion.

IUCr Congress Satellite Workshop on the Role of Magnetic Symmetry in the Description & Determination of Magnetic Structures
Venue: Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research, McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada (near Toronto).
A three-day workshop on the "The Role of Magnetic Symmetry in the Description and Determination of Magnetic Structures". Hands-on tutorials on the exploitation of magnetic symmetry in ISODISTORT, FullProf, JANA, TOPAS, and the Bilbao Crystallographic Server.
Focus: Lecture presentations and hands-on workshop tutorials will focus on the role of magnetic symmetry in the solution and refinement of magnetic structures. Â This will include discussions of magnetic neutron diffraction, the proper description of a magnetic structure (e.g. supercell, wave or irrep-mode parameters), magnetic space groups and superspace groups, magnetic systematic absences, the use of symmetry operators to constrain magnetic models, and the use of symmetry in widely-available structure solution/refinement packages.Target Audience: Â Because many of the methods and tools for applying magnetic symmetry to the solution and refinement of commensurate and incommensurate magnetic structures are relatively new and developing rapidly, this workshop will be of interest to experts and novices alike. Â Students, post-docs, faculty and industrial scientists with a strong interest in the crystallography of magnetic materials should plan to attend. Â We anticipate between 30 and 50 participants.
