The conference aims to provide a forum to highlight state-of-the-art developments in computational cryoEM and related themes, as well as showcasing outstanding recent biological applications. We aim to promote an inclusive, friendly atmosphere, welcoming those both old and new to the community. Topics include instrument technology, sample preparation, image processing, single particle reconstruction, tomography and model building.

The meeting includes the Diamond Light Source Biological Cryo-Imaging User Meeting for eBIC & B24 and the venue will also host the Karen M. Davies Memorial Symposium in memory of our dearly missed friend and colleague Karen.
Cryo-EM in Structural Biology March 2026 course

The course will take place on 2?6 March 2026 in a hybrid format, with online lectures followed by in-person, hands-on training across our partner cryo-EM facilities, including ABSL (University of Leeds), eBIC (Diamond Light Source), Birkbeck College (University of London), the Midlands Regional Cryo-EM Facility (University of Leicester), and the Scottish Centre for Macromolecular Imaging (University of Glasgow).

It is aimed at postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are new to the field and plan to use cryo-EM single-particle analysis or cryo-ET in their research. Financial support for travel and accommodation is available.

Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has revolutionized structural biology by enabling high-resolution visualization of dynamic biomolecular assemblies. However, a central challenge remains: developing robust computational methods to model different forms of structural heterogeneity?including continuous motions, discrete states, and compositional variations and to accurately estimate population distributions. To encourage the development and benchmarking of heterogeneous reconstruction algorithms and workflows, we invite the cryo-EM community to analyze three new curated experimental and synthetic datasets: 1. Compositional Heterogeneity 2. Conformational Heterogeneity 3. Pose Entanglement Please join us for a webinar where we will introduce this year's challenge.

The Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference is one of the longest-running scientific meetings in North America focused on the advancement of structural science through diffraction-based methods. Bridging both life sciences and materials sciences, the conference brings together researchers who utilize laboratory-based instruments, X-ray light sources, electron diffraction, and neutron scattering to explore the structure and dynamics of matter. It serves as a vibrant forum for sharing recent scientific breakthroughs, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and highlighting innovations across experimental and computational frontiers
This year’s program features a diverse and timely selection of breakout sessions, reflecting key areas of growth in the field. Topics include energy storage, emphasizing structural insights that enable next-generation energy technologies; AI and its applications in the development of emergent materials; novel materials with transformative properties; and the effects of extreme environments on structures, reveling details on dynamic processes and molecular motion that lead to biomolecular functions and a better understanding of complex soft materials.
