Registration is now open for the BCA Industrial Group Autumn Meeting which will be held at the Royal Institution in London on Wednesday 12th November. The meeting will be celebrating industrial science during this International Year of Crystallography with talks covering a wide range of crystallographic topics. We will also be treated to a lecture from one of the RI’s historians on the history of the RI and the Bragg’s work.

ISSC-20 is the latest meeting in the series of interdisciplinary surface science conferences covering all experimental and theoretical aspects of surfaces, interfaces and nanoscale physics and chemistry.

This conference marks the celebration of the International year of Crystallography-2014, announced by UNESCO, in order to honor the occasion of 100 years since the first X-ray diffraction experiment carried out by Max von Laue, William and Lawrence Bragg. The discoveries made by them a century ago revolutionized fields from mineralogy to biology, to study the three dimensional structure of molecules at atomic resolution.

The technique Braggs developed and used for their pioneering work on the structures of minerals, small compounds and alloys, is also applied extensively to determine the structures of biological macromolecules such as virus, proteins and nucleic acids.

Modern X-ray crystallography is now almost completely automated due to sophisticated high energy synchrotron sources, ultra-sensitive X-ray detectors and associated powerful algorithms for data analysis of hundreds of thousands of diffraction intensities. Till date, nearly two dozen Nobel prizes have been awarded for the discoveries involving X-ray crystallography.

This International Conference on Crystal Growth and Biomolecular Crystallography will be addressed by the several renowned crystallographers and advanced material scientists. The lectures will present a historical perspective with recent advances in crystal growth and X-ray crystallography and their application in modern science.

This will be the eighth of a series of events held triennially since the first Aperiodic in Les Diablerets in 1994. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists dealing with all aspects of aperiodic crystals and related problems. The conference will be hosted in the baroque building of the Brevnov monastery - the first male monastery in Bohemia founded in 993 AD. Despite of the historical origin, the venue offers all the necessary comfort for a successful and pleasant conference.

The venue is situated only about two kilometres from the Prague castle and about 20 minutes by tram from the famous historical city centre of Prague. 10th International Conference On Physics Of Advanced Materials (ICPAM-10)

ICPAM-10 is intended to be a forum of physicists, chemists, material scientists, physicians, engineers and artists for discussion and exchange of ideas and results, both in fundamental and applied research of advanced materials and will consist of invited and contributed papers during plenary, oral and poster sessions.

Young researchers, PhD and MSc students are warmly invited to attend the 1st Autumn School on Physics of Advanced Materials (PAMS-1). The tenth biennial International Conference on Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials will be held in scenic Cape Cod at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, Massachusetts from the 21-26 September 2014.

MSnows 2014

Because the size of magnetic object could be shrink down to typical magnetic characteristic length like (domain size, domain wall thickness, exchange length ..) or typical electrical transport length like (electron mean free path, spin diffusion length ..) new spintronic properties were recently discovered. Consequently a lots of effort is focussing on the study of a single nano-object and their applications. The aim of this workshop is to gather different scientific community on this particular topic of the manipulation of spin and Magnetisation at the nanometer scale.

Trans-Nano-Forum

This international event aims at:

Various methods for structural studies, such as X-ray crystallography (PX), X-ray small angle scattering (SAXS), cryoEM and molecular simulation, have been evolved very rapidly in the last decade. Combinations of these techniques reveal dynamic aspect of the molecular mechanism of biological macromolecular complexes based on the atomic structures. This symposium celebrates the International Year of Crystallography (IYCr) in 2014 and will highlight several recent results on structural studies on membrane proteins and huge protein complexes by X-ray crystallography together with recent advance of important techniques for structural life sciences.
