The meeting is organized by the Dutch Association for Crystal Growth (NVKG) and
the Dutch Crystallographic Society (NVK) and will have the character of a workshop/symposium.
The design of multicomponent crystals provides a means to alter physicochemical properties of crystals without changing the chemical properties of the molecule of interest. This is particularly useful in the case of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), but also in the field of agrochemical products.
Although solvates and salts are commonly used in this context, the formation of co-crystals has only more recently been considered, which has significantly increased the solid forms available for formulation.
This one-day symposium intends to give an overview of important aspects in the design of co-crystals, ranging from the search for suitable co-former candidates to possible legislation issues.

As you may have already recognized this is will be the sixth "NCS" of the series started in 2009.
We have already started the preparation of the next issue of the conference (submitted manuscripts will be published in the journal “Bulgarian Chemical Communicationsâ€, a special issues due April 2017).NCS16 papers will also be online available in full text via the present platform.  You are warmly invited to come and join us!
NCS2016 is held under the auspices of BCS and is the major event on Crystallography, crystal growth, structure analyses and related techniques in Bulgaria. The Symposium aims at the applications of different crystallographic techniques in combination with other methods in the fields of materials sciences, mineralogy, biology, environmental engineering, computational methods etc. Bringing together researchers from different areas NCS16 will provide them with a high-qualified platform for them to share their latest studies and to assist further findings and collaboration.

The 2016 SLAC Crystallization Course
Purpose: The purpose of this course is to provide participants with hands-on experience of a variety of crystal growth methods for obtaining high quality crystals for synchrotron and XFELs sources. The course will address both conventional and non-conventional methods in protein crystal growth. Optimization methods will include application of oils, novel nucleating agents, detergents, crystallization in lipid cubic phase, the use of injectors, acoustic droplet ejection and more. Introductory lectures will precede the hands-on tutorials planned for the course. Time for discussions and informal meetings with the tutors is scheduled.
All students are encouraged to bring their own specimens.

The 2016 Crystallization: Focus on Micro and Nano Crystals and High Throughput Methods Course will take place at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. This hands-on crystallization training program will address basic concepts in macromolecular crystal growth and sample mounting for X-ray diffraction data collection as well as novel applications to macromolecular crystallography experiments at synchrotrons and XFEL's. Attendees will be learning frontier crystallization, sample preparation and manipulation methods for home source, synchrotron and XFEL diffraction experiments including injector and high-throughput goniometer-based approaches. The Course covers introductory lectures and hands-on tutorials, and includes discussions and informal meetings with the tutors. All students are encouraged to bring their own specimens.
The course fee is $450 ($100 registration fee plus $350 social fee to cover all meals).

The Australian Synchrotron and Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand (SCANZ) are pleased to announce the Australasian Crystallography School 2016.Â
This school is intended for PhD students and early postdoctoral researchers wishing to develop their theoretical and practical skills in structure determination by X-ray crystallography.
The course will combine lectures by expert crystallographers with intensive hands-on computer-based practical sessions to provide a thorough introduction to the theory and practise of X-ray crystal structure determination.Â
It is open to people from institutions within Australia and New Zealand; although selected participants from overseas may also be considered (numbers will be limited).
SCANZ student members may apply online for consideration for Maslen scholarships as well as the crystal school.

HERCULES is a European course for PhD students and young researchers using Neutrons and Synchrotron Radiation for applications in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Hard & Soft Condensed Matter.
   The 1-month school includes lectures (60%), hands-on practicals and tutorials at partner institutes (DESY and European XFEL in Hamburg, Ellettra and FERMI in Trieste, ESRF, ILL in Grenoble, Soleil and LLB near Paris, SLS in Switzerland) and Grenoble Laboratories (CEA, CNRS, EMBL, IBS).
   The school includes a common part and two parallel sessions:
