65th Annual Conference on Applications of X-ray Analysis

Eighth in the series, the American Conference on Neutron Scattering (ACNS 2016) will provide essential information on the breadth and depth of current neutron-related research worldwide. A strong program of plenary, invited and contributed talks showcase recent scientific results in neutron science in a wide range of fields, including sources, instrumentation and software; hard condensed matter; soft matter; biology; materials chemistry and materials for energy; engineering and industrial applications; and neutron physics.

The conference will be held on board the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California and is hosted by the Neutron Scattering Society of America.

The DRC, co-sponsored by the IEEE Electron Device Society, will be coordinated with the 58th Electronic Materials Conference (EMC), which will be held the same week. This recognizes the importance of interaction between device and electronic materials research and will provide for fruitful exchange of information between attendees of both conferences.

The Phosphate Conference is a forum for the discussion of current scientific research on phosphate glasses (with a chemical composition that includes P₂O₅). The Phosphate Conference will be held on 26-28 July 2017.

With the increased demand for APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) to reach the marketplace, chemists in early stage development are expected to have a greater understanding of solid form and crystallisation. BioStruct-X (www.biostruct-x.eu) is an integrated project funded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission for transnational access to biological synchrotron X-ray radiation facilities. The BioStruct-X consortium coordinated by EMBL-Hamburg has 19 partners from 11 EU member and associated states providing integrated access via 42 installations in four key areas: macromolecular X-ray crystallography, small angle X-ray scattering, X-ray imaging, protein production and high-throughput crystallisation. In addition to the transnational access, BioStruct-X partners are involved in joint research activities aimed at novel developments in synchrotron instrumentation, automation of the experiment and high-throughput software services.

The X-ray based structural biology activities supported in BioStruct-X are core technologies used in many pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The workshop will promote the exchange of knowledge and approaches, either available or being established, between BioStruct-X consortium and industrial partners.

The Workshop will take place at the premises of the DESY synchrotron facility in Hamburg operating the presently world brightest storage ring PETRA III. A tour to the biological beamlines running at PETRA III will be included in the program. There will be a poster session and ample advertizing possibilities for the companies.
