Structural Biology to enhance high impact research in health and disease

Main Topics: · data collection (remotely @ Diamond synchrotron); · data processing; · phasing and structure determination; · model refinement and validation. 25 participants will be selected, prioritizing advanced PhD students, postdocs and young researchers. No registration fee, please look in the www site for details on application procedures. Participants will have the opportunity to collect data from their own crystals at Diamond Light Source synchrotron via remote access, with the assistance of Diamond staff. The workshop will be virtual considering the pandemics constraints. It will combine excellent lectures with hands-on problem-solving sessions. Tutorials of state-of-the-art software will include XDS, Dials, Phaser, ShelX, Coot, Refmac, Buster-TNT, PISA, among others. Since the workshop is virtual additional participants may elect to attend lectures only. If you wish to do this please complete the registration form and indicate that this is your choice. The workshop will cover aspects of crystallography and cryo-EM in Phenix, with the final emphasis based on the applicants? research interests. We are thrilled to announce that the 2020 ACA Summer Course in Chemical Crystallography, to be held at Purdue University on May 31st to June 7th, is now open for applications.
The ACA Summer Course in Chemical Crystallography is a week long program that is now well into its third decade of instruction here in the United States. The course is directed towards Single-Crystal Chemical Crystallography and Powder Diffraction techniques, as applicable to small molecule studies and is designed to instruct attendees in the theory and practice of these two aspects of crystallography. Mornings are full with lectures on the theory of the experiment and afternoons and early evenings are covering hands-on workshops.

This workshop will focus on the basics of the Jana2006 software package, allowing participants to experience utilising the software to deal with simple and modulated structures, disordered structures, and the phenomenon of twinning. No prior knowledge of using Jana2006 is necessary for interested participants.

The European Crystallographic Computing Forum is a participant driven event. We encourage informal tutorials between participants. Participants can bring small software projects and work on them together with other participants in teams, being helped by the invited tutors and each other.
Mornings will be filled with plenary discussions and lectures on topics of general interest to computing in all disciplines of crystallography, afternoons and evenings will be run code-camp style, intersparsed with tutorials as needed.

The NYC Computational Cryo-EM Summer Workshop brings together applied mathematicians, software developers, and experimentalists from the field of cryo-EM to advance the state of data analysis and processing. This includes development of new algorithms and software, as well as identifying new problems introduced by recent experimental techniques.
