The conference aims to provide a forum to highlight state-of-the-art developments in computational cryoEM and related themes, as well as showcasing outstanding recent biological applications. We aim to promote an inclusive, friendly atmosphere, welcoming those both old and new to the community. Topics include instrument technology, sample preparation, image processing, single particle reconstruction, tomography and model building.
 

The meeting includes the Diamond Light Source Biological Cryo-Imaging User Meeting for eBIC & B24 and the venue will also host the Karen M. Davies Memorial Symposium in memory of our dearly missed friend and colleague Karen.

The course will take place on 2?6 March 2026 in a hybrid format, with online lectures followed by in-person, hands-on training across our partner cryo-EM facilities, including ABSL (University of Leeds), eBIC (Diamond Light Source), Birkbeck College (University of London), the Midlands Regional Cryo-EM Facility (University of Leicester), and the Scottish Centre for Macromolecular Imaging (University of Glasgow).
 

It is aimed at postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are new to the field and plan to use cryo-EM single-particle analysis or cryo-ET in their research. Financial support for travel and accommodation is available.

Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has revolutionized structural biology by enabling high-resolution visualization of dynamic biomolecular assemblies. However, a central challenge remains: developing robust computational methods to model different forms of structural heterogeneity?including continuous motions, discrete states, and compositional variations and to accurately estimate population distributions.

The course aims at providing a comprehensive overview of the whole image 
processing pipeline in Electron Tomography (ET) from the movie alignment 
of the tilt series, 3D reconstruction of the tomogram, particle 
identification, and subtomogram averaging, *all inside Scipion 
integration framework*.

The course is aimed at researchers of all levels wanting to adopt 
electron microscopy as one of the tools at their disposal for 
elucidating biological structures.

On behalf of the Asian Crystallographic Association (AsCA), the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), and the International Program Committee (IPC), we are pleased to announce the 19th Conference of AsCA (AsCA 2025) in Taipei, Taiwan, co-hosted by Taiwan and Japan. The conference will take place at the Taipei International Conference Center (TICC) on December 1–5, 2025, jointly with the Symposium on Crystallography of Taiwan and the Crystallographic Society of Japan (CrSJ) Meeting.

AsCA, a regional associate of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr), is the largest association in the field of structural science within the Asia-Oceania region. This conference, held when there is no IUCr congress, gathers participants not only from Asia and Oceania but also from other regions to share the latest research and advancements. It serves as a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and strengthening international crystallographic networks among global researchers.

The LOC, formed by the Taiwan and Japan crystallographic societies, and the IPC, composed of international representatives of six major area including biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, and database/data science, are arranging a rich program featuring plenary lectures, keynotes, invited talks, oral and poster presentations, and microsymposia on hot-topic subjects. This intensive workshop combines state-of-the-art lectures and hands-on tutorials led primarily by expert members of the CCP4 and CCPEM communities, alongside Latin American researchers currently working in protein crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. Participants will gain deep insight into the theory and extensive experience in data processing for these techniques, offering a unique opportunity to master essential tools and methods in macromolecular structure determination.

This 5-day course is largely aimed at structural biologists with EM maps suitable for modelling building and refinement.  This course will host some of the leading software developers and provide ample contact time to allow delegates to discuss their data in detail alongside traditional lectures and tutorials.  This is a comprehensive course for EM model building covering advanced use of LocScale, ModelAngelo, Buccaneer, findMySequence-checkMySequence, EM_placement, Coot/Moorhen, TEMPy-REFF, ISOLDE, Refmac-Servalcat, Privateer, new validation tools and AlphaFold-DB & EMDB/PDBe updates. It will cover all aspects of modelling building including: map optimisation, automated model building, model fitting, medium resolution refinement, high resolution refinement, interactive refinement, validation and deposition.
