The Graz University of Technology - Institute for Anorganic Chemistry invites applications for a research assistant to work at the Austrian Small Angle X-ray Scattering beamline at the synchrotron radiation facility ELETTRA (the outstation of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry).

The Graz University of Technology operates in partnership with ELETTRA-Sincrotrone Trieste S.C.p.A. di interesse nazionale the Austrian SAXS beamline in Trieste, Italy. The Austrian SAXS beamline is embedded in the research infrastructure of ELETTRA, which offers outstanding experimental facilites open to scientists all over the world. The Austrian SAXS beamline undertakes world leading research in the structural characterization covering the fields from material science, chemistry, biophysics till biology.

The successful candidate will establish his complementary own research line or participate in the in-house research of the Austrian SAXS beamline team. This will involve use of SAXS/GISAXS for studying novel materials, biomaterials or ultra fast self-assembly processes. He/She will also provide user service for external scientists as well as support the research team in the instrumental development of the beamline infrastructure.

The duration of the contract will be 2 years. The salary corresponds to a PostDoc position according to the FWF scheme with € 3.411,80 pre-tax (14 x per year, 40 h/week).

Candidates must hold a Ph. D. degree in physics or chemistry or related fields at the time of the recruitment.  Practical experience in the application of X-ray methods, particularly small-X-ray scattering at synchrotrons, is highly desirable. Good command of English is also required. The candidates should have profound experience in instrumentation, programming and good knowledge of the operating systems Windows/UNIX/Linux.
