Data activities in crystallography: meeting reports

The following conferences contained a high level of content relating to access, management, validation or archiving of scientific data sets or databases. In many cases the IUCr was actively involved in making presentations.

FAIR Convergence Symposium (CODATA/GoFAIR) 2020
The International FAIR Convergence Symposium, organised by CODATA and GO FAIR, took place entirely virtually on 27 November and 30 November-4 December 2020. This event provided a unique forum for advancing international and cross-domain convergence around the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of digital assets.

Data Science Skills in Publishing: for authors, editors and referees
This day-long workshop was the first major initiative of the IUCr Committee on Data (CommDat), established at the 2017 IUCr Congress in Hyderabad to survey and report to the IUCr Executive Committee on all relevant aspects of data management. In line with the Committee’s broad remit, the Workshop included contributions from the fields of chemical and macromolecular crystallography and powder diffraction, and was concerned with the quality of reporting of structural models through the medium of publication as well as database deposition.
