ECM21-Durban Request for Proposals for Computing Sessions

Dear Subsribers of the ECA-COMSIG,

Next years ECM-Meeting will be held in Durban (South Africa)
24-29 August 2003.

For Aug 24, a number of workshops are planned: one on powder and
small molecule single crystal computing by Lachlan Cranswick and
one on macromolecules.

The meeting itself will include 40 two hour microsymposia (in four
parallel sessions, 4 speakers per session).

Suggestions for sessions should be with the program committee before
september 15, 2002.

My suggestion is to try to repeat what appeared to be successfull at
ECM20-Krakau:

1 - small molecule computing session
2 - macromolecular computing session
3 - teaching/computing together with the teaching SIG
4 - data-bases together with the database SIG

What we need are:

1 - A good title/theme for the sessions
2 - Suggested speakers
3 - Suggestions for chairpersons

Sessions 1,2,3,4 should not physically coincide. Ideally, spead
over the four days of the meeting. In this way, people interested
in computing can attend all microsymposia.

In addition, we can suggest speakers for the planary session. It
would be nice to have one (out of four) on (a) computing
(related issue).

Best wishes,

Computing Commission:

Chairman: Ton Spek (a.l.spek@chem.uu.nl)
Deputy Chairman: Lachlan Cranswick (l.cranswick@dl.ac.uk)
Secretary: Alexandre Urzhumtsev (sacha@lcm3b.uhp-nancy.fr)
