Dear Brian
Congratulations! We also had an inspiring meeting on improving the quality and standard of XAFS data.
Separately, the Commission is completely happy and delighted if you use the CXAFS Dictionary Definitions and incorporate them into the IUCr Dictionary Definitions, as that was indeed our intent from the beginning.
Let me know if you have any difficulty in accessing these or making use of them. At this point I would be your main contact.
Very best wishes and thanks

I am happy to report that videos of all the presentations anddiscussions during the recent Workshop on "Metadata for rawdata from X-ray diffraction and other structural techniques"are now available through the workshop web page at
     http://www.iucr.org/resources/data/dddwg/rovinj-workshop
The event, graciously described by one participant as "aninspiring workshop on what was nominally a rather dry subject",gathered over 20 experts to critically review the centralimportance of detailed metadata to proper scientific practice. It also considered the challenges of acquiring, sharing andvalidating high-quality metadata, especially in the age ofhigh-throughput 'Big Data' experiments; and the best approachesto interoperability amongst diverse workflows, file formats andgranularity of descriptive ontologies.
This archive will serve to provide a comprehensive review of thestate of the art of metadata definition and use across many ofthe scientific fields using X-ray crystallographic and relatedstructural techniques.
