Dear Andy,
Thank you for the news of these important developments at ESRF. Could you also please expand on:- (i) what is the policy of ESRF towards doi registrations for each of these raw data sets? In particular the case of publication by the original ESRF user and linking to the raw data dois; (ii) the case of analysis by a different group after 3 years will the original data and experimenters have their raw data dois cited according to Force 11 principles (https://www.force11.org/group/joint-declaration-data-citation-principles-final)? Thankyou, John and Brian From: dddwg [dddwg-bounces@iucr.org] on behalf of Andrew GOETZ [andy.gotz@esrf.fr]

I agree with Mike's suggestion. I also wanted to share some related news hot off the press of recent developments at the ESRF: The ESRF now has a data policy voted by the Council (this week). This means we will store raw data for 10 years with the associated metadata. The metadata will be stored indefinitely. The experimental team who produced the data will have exclusive access for the first 3 years (the so called embargo period). After that the data will be made open access. The data can be made open access earlier or under special cases later. The preferred format for archiving the data and metadata will be HDF/Nexus (inline with Mike's proposal). The next step at the ESRF is to implement this challenging task keepinng in mind what I said during my talk i.e. we have a lot to do! We can expect other photon and neutron sources will follow in this direction too. Kind regards Andy On 03/12/2015 16:05, Michael Probert wrote:
