Hi Simon: please feel free to ask questions and jump in with your
opinions, if you've read the discussion so far then you are as up to
speed as anyone else.  I think the long-termers would have made any
historically relevant information available by now!  Regarding your
question about policy, yes, my position would be only to deprecate,
not deny, any features which invalidate existing CIFs.
