Just received this:

The President of ICSU and the Executive Board are very pleased to inform
you of the appointment of Professor Thomas Rosswall as the new Executive
Director of ICSU. At the same time, we are also pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Carthage Smith as the Deputy Executive Director of
ICSU-- a new position within the ICSU Secretariat. Together, this new
ICSU management team will strengthen ICSU services and support for our
Members and Interdisciplinary Bodies.

A microbiologist and soil ecologist by training, Professor Rosswall
currently serves as the Director of one of ICSU's International
Scientific Associates, the International Foundation for Science.

Dr Smith received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 1989 and will be moving
to ICSU from his current position as the Head of the International
Section at the UK Medical Research Council in London.
