Dear colleague, I would like to draw your attention to a postdoctoral fellow position (ref. No. 27/2008) at the microSAXS/WAXS beamline at PETRA III (DESY, Hamburg). The microSAX/WAXS beamline will start operation in mid-2009 and offers unique possibilities for scanning micro- and nanobeam experiments. To participate in the instrumentation and to develop a own research program, we are looking for a postdoctoral fellow. For detailed information, please visit the webpage http://www.desy.de/v2/docs/1205857142-e.pdf or see below and the attachment. I would kindly like to ask you if you could inform possible candidates about this position and if you would kindly display this job description at your institute. Please feel free to contact me for further information! With best regards Stephan Roth ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Stephan V. DESY develops, builds and operates large accelerator facilities for photon science and particle physics. Research at DESY relies on the interplay between photon science, particle physics and accelerator physics. DESY looks back on a long tradition in synchrotron radiation experiments in a wide range of applications and is currently developing into one of the leading centres in this field worldwide. At present, about 40 beamlines are operated at the storage ring DORIS III and the VUV FreeElectron Laser FLASH. Our new project is the conversion of the PETRA storage ring into one of the most brilliant hard Xray sources PETRA III. THE POSITION: Work in a teamoriented environment in close collaboration with the user community Specification and implementation of the detector environment for the microSAXS/WAXS undulator beamline Design and establishment of the sample environment for insitu scanning experiments in both transmission and grazing incidence geometry using microbeams including optical microscopy for insitu sample observation Perform experiments at current HASYLAB SAXS beamlines as well as at 3rd generation synchrotron sources with the possibility to develop own research program THE REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in physics or a comparable qualification Experience in Xray data acquisition, SAXS or GISAXS and at 3rd generation synchrotron radiation sources is highly desirable Applications including CV, certificates, list of publications, and description of research interests For further information you may contact Dr. S. Roth (stephan.roth@desy.de , +49 40/89982934, stephan.roth@desy.de) or Prof. Dr. E.
