[SA_scat] Neutrons and Food - Workshop Announcement

NEUTRONS AND FOOD - SYDNEY - 31 OCT - 3 NOV 2010

We are organising a workshop in Sydney from Sunday 31 October to
Wednesday 3 November 2010 titled "Neutrons and Food".

The application of neutron scattering to food-based systems is still in
its infancy but has significant potential to the determination of food
structure and to the complex relationship between food processing,
rheology, nutrition, food quality and security.

The workshop seeks to identify the future scientific needs and
opportunities in the application of neutron scattering to food science
and to foster collaboration and networking between researchers working
in these areas.

Further details are available on the conference website -
http://www.nbi.ansto.gov.au/neutronsandfood/

Abstracts are now invited for the following sessions:

*	Plant Materials and Carbohydrates
*	Lipids & Fats
*	Dairy
*	Drinks and Beverages
*	Proteins and complexes (incl. Amino Acids, Peptides, Enzymes,
Meat/Muscle)
*	Food packaging (incl. Food Quality and Preservation)
*	Digestion, metabolic processes and nutrition (incl. Vitamins &
Minerals; Encapsulation and Controlled release)
*	Processing (incl. Rheology and Flow)
*	Glassy States of Food and Hydration (incl. Water and Ice)
*	Food Safety

This workshop is supported by the European Union through NMI3
(Integrated Infrastructure Initiative for Neutron Scattering and Muon
Spectroscopy), Oak Ridge National Laboratory, ANSTO and the Australian
Government Department of Innovation Industry, Science and Research.

We look forward to seeing you in Sydney.
