[SA_scat] SANS-YuMO User Meeting in Dubna

Dear colleagues!

We are very pleased to invite you to participate to the SANS-YuMO User Meeting that will be held at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna on May 27-30.

Meeting goal
The SANS-YuMO User Meeting is devoted to the 75-th anniversary of Professor Yuriy Mechislavovich Ostanevich (1936-1992), an outstanding physicist in neutron physics and the founder of the small angle neutron scattering spectrometer and group at JINR Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics.

During the last 4 years the reactor IBR-2 was stopped for refurbishment. At the end of 2010 the physical start up of the IBR-2M reactor was done. In 2011 the putting into operation of the neutron instruments installed at the IBR-2M reactor will face new challenges.

The small angle neutron scattering (SANS) instrument is one of the most popular and requested spectrometers all over the neutron centers of the world. SANS is applied to a very wide range of scientific problems, and in spite of an apparent of over 30 SANS instruments in operation worldwide at both, reactor and spallation sources, the demand for beam time considerably outstrips the time available.

Specific features of our modernized YuMO SANS instrument enclose the unique combination of PSD and two detector system with a wide q-range.

The main goal of this user meeting is to discuss with experts the development possibilities of the YuMO spectrometer taking into account scientific and technical requests of the instrument users. Supports of our plans for spectrometer development and discussions about new features are expected.

Topics
The scientific program will cover the following fields:
Scientific and methodical researches on the YuMO spectrometer within near- and long-term perspectives.
Development of the YuMO spectrometer on the modernized IBR-2M reactor.
Current state of small angle neutron method.
