The XVI Triennial International Conference on Small-Angle Scattering, took place in the environs of TU Berlin, Germany, 13-18 September, and was very well-received by all who attended. The conference dinner will surely become a legend in the fullness of time!
There were 420 delegates from more than 11 countries, 129 oral presentations and over 300 posters.
The Guinier Prize, sponsored by the IUCr, was awarded to Prof. Sow-Hsin Chen of MIT, USA in recognition of his many accomplishments in small-angle scattering during his distinguished 50 year career. http://www.helmholtz-berlin.de/events/sas/awards/index_de.html
The Kratky Prize, sponsored by Anton-Paar, and awarded to an outstanding young scientist working in SAXS, went to Marianne Liebi from PSI, Switzerland.

The XVII Conference will take place at the Grand Traverse Resort, Traverse City, Michigan, USA between 7-12 October 2018. http://sas2018.aps.anl.gov/
The organisers are keen to receive suggestions for scientific sessions under the general theme of the conference: 'Energy, Environment & Health'.

SAS-2021 & beyond
The location of the XVIII Conference was not decided in Berlin as no formal (complete) bids had been received in time. Accordingly, the SAS Commission of the IUCr has decided to EXTEND THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE to 1 February 2016.
Details on the information that bids must contain, and how to submit a bid, may be found on the SAS-2015 website. http://www.helmholtz-berlin.de/events/sas/bid/index_de.html
Outline bids to host SAS-2024 and beyond are also welcome.
After 1 February 2016, information on the bids received will be made available to subscribers to this email list, along with details of how to vote on a preferred location.

Kind regards,sa_scat administrator, on behalf of the IUCr SAS Commission
