[SA_Scat] Instrument Scientist Position in China (Mianyang, Sichuan)

The International Research and Collaboration Centre (IRCC) at the Southwest University of Science and technology (SWUST) is seeking a talented professional with expertise in Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and sample preparation methods to serve as an instrument scientist for a newly commissioned Anton Paar SAXS/WAXS/GI-SAXS instrument (http://www.anton-paar.com/corp-en/products/group/saxs/). The instrument is to be located at the University’s Characterization Centre which houses state-of-the-art equipment, including: HRTEM, FSEM, SEM, AFM, NMR, XRD, XRF, ICP-MS, AAS, RAMAN, HPLC, GC-MS.
	Responsibilities•	Advocate for the IRCC to promote the growth of the user community.•	Develop an independent research program based on Small Angle X-ray and Neutron Scatterings.•	Run experiments as part of the user service and assist with data analysis.•	Provide technical support as required for workshops and courses. •	Adhere to all University policies.•	Responsible for instrument alignment and calibration, fault diagnostics, interaction with scientists in the University’s Characterization Centre.
	Qualifications•	Essential	The preferred candidate will have obtained a PhD in Materials Science, Physics or related physical science field. Post-doctoral experience in Small Angle X-ray or Small Angle Neutron Scattering is highly regarded. A record of publications commensurate with experience is essential.	The preferred candidate will have an ability to train and guide the user community e.g., students, post-doctoral researchers, visiting scientists; strong analytical skills, ability to formulate and explain complex scientific problems; effective communication and writing skills to prepare manuscripts; and an ability to work in a team environment, collaborate, and perform independent research.
•	Desired 	The preferred candidate will have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills as well as exceptional communications ability, a thorough understanding of design, operation, calibration and maintenance of X-ray or neutron scattering, a thorough knowledge of safety requirements as well as a willingness to implement safety policies.
