FORTRAN source files are plain text.  There is no need to attach them.
Just use your text editor to read the "alpha.f" file directly into the body
of your message and send it.  Alternatively, if you want to save space
you can compress(1) or gzip(1) the file, and then attach it (compressed
files are binary and need to be MIME encoded when emailed.
