MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARIAT TO ALL ICSTI MEMBERS
*************************************************

We take pleasure in informing you that ICSTI FORUM no. 34,
May 2000, is now available on the ICSTI web site.

This issue which was coordinated by Bernard Dumouchel provides four papers
on the work being done in Canada to advance the concept of digital libraries:

- The first article 'The National Library of Canada's
Initiatives Towards Building a Canadian Virtual Library' provides a
great overview.

- The use of a virtual library in a large organization is
highlighted in the second article 'Digital Libraries - the View from
CISTI'.

- 'SHERLOCK: Link to the Virtual Quebec University Library' describes
a special application in a consortium setting. It deals also with critical
considerations regarding sharing and using data.

- It concludes with 'ResSources ESS: Earth Sciences for the 21st Century',
an article on a knowledge management initiative which will provide stakeholders
with the tools to access, analyze, visualize and manage knowledge assets in
support
of informed decision-making for the natural resources sector.

You can reach it from the ICSTI welcome page at http://www.icsti.org

or directly at http://www.icsti.org/icsti/forum/fo0005.html
