Hello, I'm very happy with the good progress that Paul has made. The format only makes sense if there's software easily available to read and write it. Clearly Paul work is going more in the direction of including binary "strings" in the midst of the "headers". This was not the direction we felt we should take at Brookhaven, but I think we should try out the scheme as Paul has written it, and review the situation after that. However, the documentation and the code MUST AGREED. So we must make sure that two converge to the same point. Similarly the details of the Huffman algorithm and the storage format must be documented down to the last bit. What is the status of your documentation Paul ? The performance sounds good too ! Andy
