The First Russian Crystallography Congress was held in Moscow during November 2016.
 The purpose of the Congress was to unite Russian scientists and researchers around crystallography as a methodology in 21st century research. Just under 2200 participants attended the meeting, half being young scientists, presenting an interdisciplinary approach to many branches of science, ranging from solid-state chemistry and physics to soft matter and biological materials, including the investigation of brain functions. The Congress was created, organized and chaired by the the Director of the Kurchatov Institute, Professor Mikhail V. Kovalchuk. All the presentations, displays and posters were in Russian.
