Re: [dddwg] DDDWG: Standards for metadata

Dear Colleagues,

I think we need to do both CBF and NeXus versions of the list -- both are likely to be heavily used for many years.   I will go through what has been posted so far and add both sets of tags by early next week.

  Regards,

Dear DDDWG members,

Thanks to Wladek and Tom for starting to set up a meta data list. This is very useful and a good starting point. I have compiled a list from the document of Wladek, with Andreas's and Harry's additions. In two papers John Helliwell and I described the minimum metadata needed and potential problems with interpretations. I have added items we discussed in these papers to the list.

How can we shape the metadata format? I tried to find the corresponding imgCIF names for the items in the list. I believe it would be possible to put metadata in imgCIF. I am sure Herbert Bernstien can comment on this, and if it would be better to follow the newer Nexus format!?

Hi DDDWG members!

As Wladek has mentioned, we have set up a small working group to develop standards for metadata for diffraction images. The members of the working group are Andreas Forster, Wladek Minor, and Loes Kroon-Batenburg.

Wladek has drafted a starting point for these standards and I have attached an edited version. Your comments are welcome and I have included emails for the working group members so that they can see your comments!

All the best,
Tom T
