Art Bienenstock Nominated

On September 25, 1997, US President Clinton announced his intent to nominate Dr Arthur Bienenstock as the Associate Director for Science at the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President.

Dr Bienenstock is the Director of the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lab, Stanford University (California, USA). He received a BS and an MS in Physics from Polytechnic University of New York and a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University.

The Associate Director for Science is one of the Administration's key positions in the area of science along with the Director of the National Institutes of Health and the Director of the National Science Foundation.
