25th IUCr Congress and General Assembly to definitely take place in August 2021

In March 2020, due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the IUCr Executive Committee (EC) decided to postpone the IUCr Congress and (in consultation with the National Committees) the General Assembly to August 2021. A year has gone by and the situation is barely any more predictable, but with the Melbourne Congress organisers unable to postpone their Congress beyond 2023 and the current period already being a quadrennium, the EC has decided that the Congress will definitely go ahead in August of this year. At present, it is hoped that the Congress and General Assembly will both be a hybrid of online and in-person participation. While we can say for certain that online access will be provided for speakers and delegates, we will wait until mid-June to confirm whether in-person participation will also be an option.
The IUCr2021 organisers have included participation options at Conftool and request that participants select an option and, should their circumstances change, update this status.
