IUCr election results begin to come in – new President and Treasurer elected

At the third session of the 25th IUCr General Assembly on 19 August 2021, Dr Hanna Dabkowska (McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada) was elected as IUCr President, and Professor Bo Brummerstedt Iversen (Aarhus University, Denmark) as General Secretary and Treasurer (GST). In addition, it was announced that the 27th IUCr Congress in 2026 will be held in Calgary, Canada.
The outgoing President, Professor Sven Lidin (Lund University, Sweden), becomes the Immediate Past President and consequently the IUCr representative to the International Science Council. Hanna was formerly the Vice-President, and the announcement of her successor will be made at the Congress Dinner on 20 August. Bo takes over from Luc Van Meervelt (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium), who has served as GST for a 10-year period. The vote for the ordinary members of the Executive Committee is ongoing, and the results will be announced in the coming week.The IUCr would like to thank all members of the current Executive Committee (which remains in place until the close of the Prague Congress on 21 August) for their exceptional service and dedication, especially during the recent challenging times, and congratulates and looks forward to working with the new members.
