Crystallography in Africa

Success Stories

Our outreach efforts, rooted in the vision of the International Year of Crystallography 2014, continue to inspire and shape the global scientific community.

Building Capacity Through Collaboration

The success of initiatives such as OpenLabs and Crystallography in Africa have led to the recent establishment of the African Crystallographic Association. This independent body now leads initiatives across Africa, such as the annual PCCr meetings, with the support of the IUCr. The formation of AfCA stands as a testament to the success of collaborative capacity building effort
        IYCr2014
The driving force behind the International Year of Crystallography (IYCr) was to celebrate the significant scientific and societal contributions of crystallography and to raise awareness of its importance in addressing global challenges.

        AfCA
The mission of the African Crystallographic Association is to contribute to the advancement of science on the African continent via crystallography in all its aspects

        ICSU
"Building Science Capacity in Africa via Crystallography" is an initiative of the IUCr funded by the International Council for Science (ICSU) through the ICSU Grants Programme 2015.
