Dear SAS community,
Please forward to any upcoming or recent graduates you think may be interested.
PhD in in-situ X-ray scattering to understand hierarchical MOF assemblyJoint project: University of Birmingham, Diamond Light Source Ltd.Supervisors: Dr Hamish HM Yeung (University of Birmingham), Dr Andy Smith & Dr Phil Chater (Diamond Light Source Ltd).
The project involves designing experiments to investigate the formation of metal-organic frameworks and hierarchical structure, and developing methodologies to analyse complex data from in-situ X-ray experiments. Please note that funding for fees is available for home (UK) students only and this re-advertised position will close 1 September or as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
Candidates should have or be about to complete a Masters degree with first class or upper second class honours in a scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Physics, Materials. They are expected to demonstrate a good understanding of X-ray (and/or light) scattering, diffraction and/or crystallography, and show interest in functional materials, condensed matter, metal-organic frameworks, crystallization and/or sensing.
